Introduction

My name is Jordan Ober. I will be playing football at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. I play the best position in football, which is Long Snapper. Football is the best thing to ever happen to me because it opened so many doors for me. Football paid for my school. From the beginning, it taught me how to be a man. For example, my coach’s taught me how to be disciplined and it taught me to never quit.
Before football, Baseball was my life. I played 14 seasons and was the catcher for all of my teams. Baseball taught me how to be disciplined before football taught me. I quit baseball before freshmen year because it was way to boring and I have always been intrigued by football. My dad didn’t want me to play football but my mom did so she convinced my dad. Football changed my life.
I am an animal lover. I love dogs and other furry animals. I have two dogs, a labor doodle and a multipo. Their names are Riley and Lexi. When I grow up, I want three dogs. I want a Germen Shepard, a Husky, and a Golden Retriever. I need to have dogs when I grow up.
When I am older, I want to be in the NFL. My main goal is to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers. If I can’t play professional football, I want to open my own practice and be a Physical Therapist. I want to open it in Colorado because that is where I want to settle down. If I can’t open it in Colorado, I would want to work for a college or a pro team. I want to do physical therapy because I want to help people recover and get back to their daily lives. If I can help at least one a person a day, that would be amazing.
I am not the best student but I want to change that in college. I want to learn good study habits and get more organized so I can get good grades.  I want to work as hard as I do on the field in the classroom. My goal this year is to get a 3.1 or higher. If I can get a 4.0 that would be the best thing to ever happen to me. Academics have to come before athletics.
The story of how my football career started is pretty funny. When I was a sophomore in high school, I was in PE and my coach saw me snapping for fun and he told me that I was really good at it. I didn’t want to be a long snapper and I was honestly ashamed of being a long snapper. The next day, he made me snap in front of the head coach, and I got the job. That is how it all started. I practiced every day and went to camps so I can get exposed. I made the finals and that gave me a huge boost. Later on I won the finals and that pushed me to a 5 star prospect, which is what set everything off.

I was set to commit to ASU as a preferred walk on but suddenly The University of Nebraska offered me a full ride scholarship. Only 7 long snappers got full rides. I was so blessed and I went on my official and committed the next day. That was one of the best things that happened to me in my entire life. I am excited to start my career as a student- athlete here at the University of Nebraska. GO BIG RED!

  1. Jordan, I really enjoyed reading this! You have some impressive life goals and it's great you have multiple passions. As you iluded to, one of the great things about college is the chance you have to start over--you can reimagine yourself as a student and have great opportunities to develop those learning/study skills. I wish, though, y ou had shared more about yourself as a writer.
